    Very informative. He had so many good ideas! I also didn't realize that MR/MRI technology was due to him, and the big one was his prediction of the cellphones nearly everyone uses today.

    MR relies on very high strength static magnetic fields as well as rapidly alternating magnetic fields. Lots of coils of wire, both superconducting and 'normal'. When first developed, we talked about Gauss, but under the CGS standard, we use the unit of measure of Tesla. I invoke his name multiple times a day when interpreting MR exams.
