No side mirror window defrost

I haven't seen this posted yet, but it just presented itself.. No side window defrost vents means no obvious regular window defrosting

I guess this was partly addressed with the 44.2 software update and improved vent manipulation (which I really can't tell) but Im skeptical it will completely solve the issue.
I was able to adjust the vent output to defrost (defog), but I wonder how an iced window might defrost.

Anyone else with experience?

The dedicated side vent IS a defroster.

Not sure why you would want to activate the defroster without using the defroster.

If you're on 44.2 and set the adjustable vent to a single jet instead of split, and you then point it at the window, its pretty effective at defogging. I haven't had the occasion to try it at defrosting though.

I have found that my defroster is almost non-existent when I select the option to re-circulate interior air. Of course it makes sense, but that never happens on any of my ICE cars.
