Noise at speed 3 vs X ?

While I am thrilled my 3, I find the interior cabin noise at speed to be higher than I would like. (Yes, lots of threads and discussion about this).

Can anyone here who has a 3 and an X comment on interior road noise comparisons between the 2 at highway speeds ?

Good luck with that! People here can't even agree on noise levels within the same vehicle, never mind comparing across them. For example I've heard people say the X is unbearably noisy, but ours is pretty quiet. I haven't driven a Model 3 yet to compare, but I'm interested too because I have a deposit down on one.

Let's see, would one expect the build quality on a $140k vehicle to be better than that of a $60k?

Don't compare the two cars, compare them against ICE.

I test these cars on a moderately coarse surface at 45 MPH (to minimize wind and engine noise), at both the driver's outboard ear and right rear passenger outboard ear locations.
Driver's Ear:
Model 3 - 67 dBA
Model S - 65 dBA
MB S-550 - 61 dBA

Rear Passenger:
Model 3 - 69 dBA
Model S - 67 dBA
MB S-550 - 62 dBA
