I am in ny and am considering an inventory car out of state . Has anyone actually bought out of state and went and got it instead of paying extra shipping to nys. Thanks in advance

I'm pretty sure to get the NYS $2000 credit you need to buy it from a NYS location.

If you mean that you've found a car at a Tesla showroom in another state, just have them send it to a NYS showroom. That way you can get the $2K sales tax credit. Otherwise you'll have to pay the full sales tax to NYS when you go to register it in NY. A other option would be to contact a NYS showroom and have them negotiate the sale for you, save the $2K sales tax, register the VIN in NYS, and you could go pickup the car somewhere else and plate it and drive it home.

Why? Tesla will ship the car to your nearest pickup location for free or they might even ship to your door (like they did for me) if you live upstate.
