Order Model Y but switch to Model 3

I am back in the market for another Tesla. I had a 2018 Model 3 but sold it s I was not driving during the pandemic. I plan to place an order for the Model Y later this week. If I change my mind, let's say in a few months, can I switch my order to the Model 3 under the same deposit? I am thinking switching if there is more assurance that we'll get no tax credit.

I was told by the SA that if I wanted to switch from X to Y that I would need a whole new order/deposit/etc...

When I asked to switch my Model 3 deposit (back then it was $1000) I was told I couldn't. At that time it was refundable however. I'm not sure however the current $100 order fee is still refundable however. I guess it depends on where in the process you ask for the refund.

I love the Model 3. I understand that the view out of the rear windshield is not as good on the Model Y. Any thoughts ?
