Assuming that we may never know what "Jennifer" said, I'll take a stab based on my own impression of the video.
Jay Leno introduced Musk as the man behind Tesla Motors. Elon did not disagree, and explained what drew him to the project. Completely true comments as it stands today, but misleading if you where to infer that Elon started the company. Whether that was an intentional historical rewrite, just casual banter, or something in between is beyond me. But I can see where it would inflame people who know the whole story.
Personally, I would wish that Tesla Motors could find a tactful way to acknowledge Martin and Marc's "contributions". Maybe the wounds are still too fresh.
