"Paint" coming off under front emblem

Under the front emblem there is some kind of chromed plastic film on my Tesla Model X 2018. Parts of it have come off, presumably due to water dripping from the emblem.

Hope it shows reasonably OK in the pictures.

Any ideas on what to do about this? Anything I could do myself?

Only thing you can do is replace the grille. The chrome coating on the plastic has failed.

No idea what’s involved in that and I don’t know your skill/comfort level so I can’t answer that for you.

I would imagine it would require pulling the bumper to get access to removing the grille, but again I have no idea for sure.

I used a chrome delete set from TesBro. Not super hard to install and car looks much nicer w/o chrome. You may be able to buy chrome vinyl is you don't want to remove the piece.
