Wow is this REAL LIFE? VIN JUST APPEARED IN SOURCE CODE! #152xx

8/7 order, MSM/Black/FSD, Fremont, CA

Will they really be able to pull off this miracle delivery before end of month? Hmmmmm

No visible VIN on account page or anything, just source code for now.

You can call the free line and ask them about delivery. They can push it through finance and get your mvpa. Worked for me. Got the vin and mvpa in my login right after.

Curious if anyone knows when the VIN is assigned (when it leaves factory, truck/train?) and how long transit is from west to east?

My VIN showed up in Source Code around 4:30pm on 9/17, I received a text to Schedule Delivery at 10am on 9/18, I emailed my SA and she responded saying "I can actually see your car moving this way – it’s in Nevada right now" at 3:30pm on 9/18.

So I would venture to guess that they are taking inventory as they are loading cars onto the truck, which triggers the VIN in your source code, which eventually triggers an automated text.

Looking at the Teslike Survey the average VIN to delivery time appears to be around 7 days, 12 days max on some occasions. If my delivery takes place as scheduled, it would be 7 days from VIN to the Midwest.

Messaged my SA today - he expects that I'll have a VIN this Friday. He "guaranteed" that I would have my car by end of the month. Messaged the delivery rep also and he said the same...... by end of this month.

I asked him about the 2 years free supercharging a few days ago and he said it just needs to be processed. Because of the long wait, he's confident that it'll be added in by the time I pick up the car. I ordered 8/10, white/black performance. Picking up at Santa Barbara dealership. It's been a long wait and being without a car for 5+ weeks has been rough, but I'm glad it's closer to the end.

God I hope so. This wait with no car is brutal.

Took delivery today!
Ordered 8/15, MSM/White Interior/Performance
Config Changed 8/21
VIN in source 9/16
Schedule delivery text 9/16
Took delivery today, 9/18
Location: SF Bay Area

Car looks great, did an inspection and didn't notice any scratches or paint issues that were too bad. Only notice a few small ones that can be easily buffed off and I already have a service appointment scheduled to take care of them.

I ordered 8/6, got the same Monday evening text as you, then yesterday morning the “tentatively scheduled” delivery text for Friday. Almost simultaneously the VIN populated in source code and was showing below the RN# on the car manage page We'll see if that holds...
@thodgdon66 We are in the same boat - exactly. So, I wanted to let you know when I spoke to the Tempe delivery center yesterday, my car was already there. I had some trepidation regarding the "tentatively scheduled" part as well. So, yesterday late morning I called the center and was relieved to know it was already there. Heck, he said, "we could probably get it ready and you can pick it up later today!" Well, that doesn't work since I'm selling my current LR AWD on Friday (30 minutes before my M3P delivery!). I've waited this long, so I can wait until Friday as well. 10:30am is my scheduled delivery.

But, knowing that it's there (and I assume yours is too), we can omit any doubt that the delivery won't happen on the scheduled day/time.

We're so close!

Not all M3s have HW3 though right?
There are some reports that some recently delivered Model 3's in Europe that were delivered without FSD had HW 2.5 in them, but they are unsubstantiated at this point; no actual pictures of the module itself to confirm it.

In the US, I haven't seen anyone getting HW 2.5 in months now, but that isn't definite confirmation.

Regardless, if you order FSD, you'll get HW 3.0 for free eventually, and right now, there is zero difference in the code being run; HW 2.5 and HW 3.0 are running exactly the same code right now. Who knows how long it'll be before they branch it.

Ordered 8/28: MSM/White Interior/Performance/Autopilot and received confirmation email a few hours later.

9/14: received the generic tesla text "we expect to deliver your Model 3 in the next two weeks..."

9/16: VIN in source code - called 888 number to try and get paint and interior upgrades waived and was redirected to Buena Park voicemail.
They called back within 10 minutes and denied my request saying that it was only for people who waited for a really long time. He said I might be able to get the 2 years of super charging but would have to look into it.
Also he told me not to believe everything I read on the Internet which I felt was a little condescending (I hope he didn't mean it that way) but overall he was pleasant and responsive. He also told me the car was in Fremont,CA and waiting for a transport truck and that I would receive a text once it was assigned a transport truck.

About 5 minutes after I hung up I received a text that the car was in transit and I scheduled my appointment to pickup on Friday 9/20 (had a choice of Thursday as well!

Then about 30 minutes later I refreshed my account and a VIN was there.

Seems pretty far off from the other VIN that was posted though ... 465269?

I guess LA and OC are getting deliveries now.

Buena Park, California Pickup

They called me yesterday and asked if I can pickup he car early so I did. Car looks great aside from one minor paint contamination issue about the size of a dime on the rear window beam. Feels rough to the touch but barely visible. They had trouble getting a picture of it but noted it in my account. I'm getting ceramic coating soon so it will probably get buffed out anyway but I had them note it just in case the detailer wants to charge me a lot to fix it.
The backup noise is kind of embarrassing but I guess I'll get used to it. I can barely hear the sounds inside the car but my wife said reverse is really loud outside the car.
Car is a lot of fun! Good luck everyone!

No VIN for me either. 8/13 white/blk performance, FSD... Was told there is a huge shipment of M3s (do you smell that?) coming to Denver on Monday. "Confident I will get you matched on Monday"

Funny, my guy (even the dude I emailed) said they have no idea and are hopeful (as of late yesterday) and since I will have to drive down to Denver for mine I would think they would hand out the same information to everyone.

Another Denver story. Ordered 28 Aug. white/black. Called today and was told that they’re confident I would be in a car by the 30th of Sept. He did say there’s a buttload of model 3s coming in every week. We will see.

8.3: ordered white/black FSD
8.24: text it would be 3-4 weeks (first communication)
9.10: VIN showed up in source code
9.11: scheduled delivery for 9.20
9.18: finalized financing and fully paid
Tomorrow: will be a Tesla owner!!!!

Hoping I can get the 2 years of free supercharging. I enquired with an SA on the phone in Chicago and she said no. I wrote my delivery specialist and have yet to receive a response. Fingers crossed!
