Hey there,
Doing a project where I'd like to see how often people are using certain functions of ADAS. It would help me out greatly if you could post your answers here! Thanks in advance!

What car do you primarily drive that has ACC/Autopilot?
How long have you been using ACC/Autopilot in your vehicle?
On a scale of 1 to 10, how often do you use ACC/Autopilot in your vehicle?

Activating ACC
In what scenarios do you activate ACC?
If there are any, please take us through the steps you take prior to activating ACC in your vehicle.

Within ACC
On a scale of 1 to 10, how often do you adjust speed?

Resuming/Resetting ACC
In what scenarios do you resume ACC?
What action do you take to resume ACC?

On a scale of 1 to 10, how important is it to be able to resume from a previously set cruise speed?

Activating Autopilot
In what scenarios do you activate Autopilot?
On a scale of 1 to 10, how often do you activate Autopilot while ACC is active?
On a scale of 1 to 10, how often do you activate Autopilot while you're manually driving your vehicle?

...your answers...

What car do you primarily drive that has ACC/Autopilot?
Tesla Model X

How long have you been using ACC/Autopilot in your vehicle?
1.5 years

On a scale of 1 to 10, how often do you use ACC/Autopilot in your vehicle?
9. In conjunction with Autopilot. Otherwise, 1, seldom alone because Autopilot not available for some reason.

Activating ACC
In what scenarios do you activate ACC?
When I can such as when there's no car in front or when there's car in front, when the intersection is green but not when the light is red and there's no car in front.

If there are any, please take us through the steps you take prior to activating ACC in your vehicle.
Pull the left lower steering wheel stalk toward me once.

Within ACC
On a scale of 1 to 10, how often do you adjust speed?
3

On a scale of 1 to 10, how often do you adjust the time gap?
You mean "following distance"? I set it once the last 1.5 years and have not adjusted it since!

On a scale of 1 to 10, how often do you step on the accelerator?
1. Seldom. Only when the system mistakenly reduces speed.

Canceling ACC
In what scenarios do you cancel ACC?
When I need to take over speed control such as going into a curve without a car in front.

What action do you take to cancel ACC?
Tap the brake.

On a scale of 1 to 10, how often do you step on the brake?
1. Seldom.

On a scale of 1 to 10, how often do you use the stock?
1. Seldom. By the way, I don't think Model 3 allows canceling the automation system by the stalk. You have to use your brake in Model 3.

Resuming/Resetting ACC
In what scenarios do you resume ACC?
Just as when I need it in the first place.

What action do you take to resume ACC?
Pull the left lower steering wheel stalk toward me once.

In what scenarios do you set a new cruise speed?
When road speed limit changes.

On a scale of 1 to 10, how important is it to be able to resume from a previously set cruise speed?
10. Very important.

Activating Autopilot
In what scenarios do you activate Autopilot?
Whenever the instrument cluster says it is ready for Autopilot.

On a scale of 1 to 10, how often do you activate Autopilot while ACC is active?
10.

On a scale of 1 to 10, how often do you activate Autopilot while you're manually driving your vehicle?
9. The other 1 is because the instrument indicates that Autopilot is not ready for the driving scenario.

Turning Autopilot Off
In what scenarios do you turn off Autopilot?
When I need to take over speed control such as going into a curve 1.5 years ago when Autopilot didn't reduce speed automatically. It later did.

What action do you take to turn off Autopilot?
Tap the brake.

On a scale of 1 to 10, how often do you engage the steering wheel?
9.9, almost all the time except when If first bought it and on the way home from the delivery, I kept my hands off and quickly learned that that was the wrong way to use Autopilot!

On a scale of 1 to 10, how often do you use the stock?
10. There's no other way nor any other knobs to acitvate Autopilot.

Closing Questions
On a scale of 1 to 10, how important is TACC in your Tesla?
10

On a scale of 1 to 10, how important is Autopilot?
10

How would you improve the features?
I would make sure that it can automatically brake for obstacles (Williston in Florida, Mountain View in CA...)

I would activate the rest of the 8 cameras and Tesla Vision too!

Thanks Tam!

One correction. My answers were based on my knowledge on Model X so my answer about canceling Model 3 ACC is incorrect. Now that I've experimented with Model 3, this is an update:

Model 3 uses the gear stalk for 2 functions:

1) gear selection
and
2) ACC & Autopilot selection

To activate ACC/Autopilot, you just have to pull the stalk down beyond "Drive" gear so I thought I cannot cancel by pulling the stalk back up for fear of selecting Neutral, Park, and Reverse gear while driving.

But in fact, it does allow pulling the stalk back up to cancel both ACC/Autopilot functions at once without fearing messing around with gear selection!
