Unlikely as the Telsa Mobile Connector, Wall Connector and 3rd party EVSEs have built in over voltage and surge protection.
A different case is a close air to ground lightning strike during an electrical storm. There have been cases of EVs being damaged by lightning. Again, unlikely but the potential for catastrophic damage to the vehicle while plugged in exists. A surge protector (even a whole house surge protector) isn't going to stop 3 to 5 million volts of electricity.
