PPF, question on quality

And another reminder why I won’t be going the PPF route myself. For what some people pay to do the whole car, you can literally get it repainted. I keep my cars for 3-5 years, not worried about keeping it nice for "the next guy".

I just never understand this perspective. The whole time your vehicle is PFF'd, you've kept it nice for you, the whole time.

If it helps, right before you sell, you remove the PPF, and take it driving on dirt roads for a month, then hand it over. Then it won't be so nice for the next guy. The car has been nice for you and not so nice for the next guy. Everyone's happy.

If you repaint, it'll only be nice until the first chip, and then, that'll bother you until you get a whole bunch of chips and then you'll start ignoring the lot of them. That's better?

To be fair though, it really depends on how much you drive. I drive a whole lot and PPF at least the front has saved me from chips that would bug the hell out of me. I can say I've not incurred any noticeable damage ever since I had my entire front PPF'd.

True, and the climate and type of roads. Not so much road debris down south, compared to the northern states with winter weather.

Personally I think the PPF makes it so much harder to keep it clean when you live in a climate with loads of snow and salt on the roads, so the end result is that a car with PPF is less nice for me while I own it.

When it's installed correctly, you shouldn't see any cuts, lines, bubbles, seams.... it should look like it's just painted.

You can barely see the edge of the PPF material in the lower "mouth" in this top pic.

Yea that's much cleaner. But also installed properly.

Here are pics of the cut up paint from improper installation. Razor blade marks basically anywhere PPF was installed.
