Proper arbitrage California NEM 2.0? (SDGE)

If I’m expected to over produce power, and given that wholesale rates are close or over NBCs is the adage of always better to consume what I produce out the window? Should I charge my Tesla overnight at super off peak even with the NBCs since I expect I’ll be getting a check from SDGE next year and wholesale excess power rates spiked? Or am I still “losing” but since I’m expecting a check how much should I really care?

My two cents on this.
1) Charging your EV during the Super Off Peak hours is your biggest win, unless you have another way to charge for less than $0.06/kWh
2) Switch to the San Diego Community Power (your local CCA) and you will get an extra $0.0075/kWh for your net exports
3) Don't charge from the grid to reduce NBCs and import kWh total
4) Minimize your Powerwall discharge (mine is set to 95%) during winter to reduce efficiency loss for recharge to maximize exports
5) Do use your Powerwall during Summer Peak to ensure that your NEM Balance is less than $0

The Net Surplus Compensation rates have been trending higher and the SDG&E rate for Feb was insanely high, but it has come down in March.

Good to know. I may finally have a good enough reason to update my Tesla from an April 2021 firmware because the older software doesn't support mobile app adjustment for amps, and therefore chargeHQ doesn't either! So, to charge my car by solar and avoid NBCs I have to manually adjust the amps in the car, which isn't terrible but it's certainly not convenient.
