PSI Inflation automatic on Model S?

Hi! New owner of a used Model S here. I noticed the tires inflate automatically. They went from 46, 46, 46, 45 to 50, 50, 50, and 49 when we loaded heavy bags for dropping off my friends at the airport here.

Is this normal for Model S 2016? If so, another kudo for Tesla company from my heart!

No. They don't. Increasing a vehicles weight can increase the tires psi as can higher temperatures. You still need to monitor and adjust your tires regularly for optimal performance and safety.

Tires heat up as you drive, which increases the tire pressure. You gain about 1 psi for every 10ºF increase in tire temperature. This is why they specify a "cold" inflation pressure.

No auto inflation, but I noticed this year I have gone months without needing to adjust tire pressures during the warm up of the season's temperature. They are still at the correct cold PSI.
