Just an update: we picked the car up from the Service Center. The onboard charger was bad, so they replaced it. Also we were given a new key fob, as the techs at Tesla could not get the one that was not working to work. We also had the taillight replaced and there was some screws added to the steering column, not entirely sure what that was for but I'll take it.
I stopped at a Supercharger on my way home and the car started charging right away. I'm feeling happy and relieved.
