Question on shutting off the ambient floorboard lighting

I'm hoping some Model 3 owners who have had their cars for long enough to have driven at night can comment on the ambient lighting.

I read recently that, at night, the driver and front passenger have their feet lit up at night by the ambient lighting that does not shut off while the car is in motion?? You can turn ambient lighting off, but then it's off off, even when the doors are opened it stays off until turned back on.

Seems to me that Tesla needs to put out a software update that makes the ambient lighting like every other car manufactured and that is it shuts off when the doors are closed and the car is started.

Anybody heard of this and whether or not Tesla has been notified of this glitch?
