It's likely it will be required by regulations if FSD ever gets approved. They would probably have to find a way.

I'm pretty sure that you'll never see it as a retrofit for existing cars. There's a lot of mechanical changes required.

I don't expect it to be required by FSD. There's other redundancy features already in play.

What redundant wiring? It is a car it only has to make it to the side of the road and put the hazards on. Even with that there are no cars out there that can guarantee that they will make it to the side of the road under all failure conditions.
