Picked up X LR, 6 seat, Blue/White, 20", Standard AP today.

Vehicle is in very good condition, better than I expected. I found several very minor small issues, but all should be easily fixable. Otherwise, the vehicle is super nice, drives really smooth and quiet. No rattles, squeaks, or noises, paperwork was done properly, the delivery specialist at the Houston Westheimer Service Center (Morgan) was awesome, she's just about the only employee I've met that knows what's going on, answered all my questions, and made the delivery experience great.

Minor issues found:

1. Drivers window has some adhesive between the two double-pane glass panels, they will be replacing the window. The delivery specialist informed me of this before I saw the vehicle, they found it during their inspection and had already noted that the window would have to be replaced.

2. Minor, small scratches on exterior, all of these are in the clear coat, not the paint, and should buff out.

3. All Wheels missing the Aero inserts -- none found in the trunk or frunk.

4. Back trunk interior trim panel is separating from body, probably just needs realignment or adhesive.

5. Passenger side bumper is misaligned, and has paint defect in the gap.

Some other defects that I read about here, I checked for, but did not find. There is no silicone sealant in the taillights at all. No condensation in any parking, headlights, or taillights. All seats were bolted and secure. No carpet or upholstery defects, one middle row seat needs a little cleaning. Falcon Wing doors look to be aligned properly, handles line up evenly with the front door handles.

Overall, this is an improvement from what I found on my Performance 3 when I took delivery in 2018.

Some other items I noticed:

1. The rear windows on the Falcon Wing doors and the rear glass are tinted quite a bit darker than the drivers and passengers front windows. This is pretty standard for California to comply with their window tint laws, but in Texas the drivers and passengers front windows are allowed to be the same darkness as the rear glass. I'm going to have to talk to the tint shop to see if different tints can be used to match the front and rear glass.

2. Out of the 4 "Model X" logos that are on the door sills down towards your ankles, two of them had the blue protective plastic removed, and two did not. No problem, of course, but it does show that the prep team is really busy.

3. I thought I may have had a defective center screen in the vehicle, as I was able to see a single column of pixels that were colored when the display had a mostly-white graphic on it (specifically, the HVAC control screen). However, this turned out to be a nearly imperceptible scratch in the factory-applied protective plastic over the screen that you're supposed to remove. Once the plastic was removed, this optical defect disappeared. If you happen to see it on your screen, don't panic, see if it disappears when you remove the plastic.

4. Yoke did have the seam for the airbag present (the "worm"). I don't find this objectionable at all -- every steering wheel I've seen with a center airbag has some kind of seam on it to allow the wheel to split open when the airbag fires. The seam is only visible in oblique lighting, and is symmetrical, so you can't see it unless you're specifically looking for it. Maybe some that come off the assembly line are worse than others, but I'm certain all of them are going to show it to some degree.

5. Yoke steering didn't take much to get used to. Parking lot maneuvers are a little different, but I adapted in no time.

6. Turn signals are also different, but I got used to that in about 10 minutes. The auto cancel function works really well, and this mitigates the driver interaction with the turn signals.

7. Software that came with the car is 2021.43.201, this is a bit older, and doesn't have the center horn functionality or the noise-cancellation. Those will be welcome upgrades.

8. Remember that getting your phone set up to the car is a THREE step process -- 1) get the Tesla app installed if you don't have it already and have the vehicle added to your account by the delivery specialist. This allows you to control the car with the app. 2) Set up phone as a key, this lets you unlock/lock with the phone. 3) Pair with Bluetooth for media streaming. All three of those items are separate processes. When setting up a 2nd phone as a key, the first phone must be disconnected! It can't pair with a 2nd phone while the 1st is still connected. Once both are paired, then both can be connected.

9. The delivery checklist that is available in the spreadsheet is an excellent tool to work off of when you take delivery -- it has all of these items on the checklist and will help you find almost everything that you might need to have Tesla address -- use it!

This worked out well, my wife and I are really happy with the car. It turned out much better that I had initially expected. Still some issues to address, but all are minor/cosmetic and fixable.

I hope all of you get your X as soon as possible, and I hope yours is as good or better than mine! And thank you to all here who have previously mentioned what to look for, those who crafted the delivery checklist, and those who are maintaining the delivery spreadsheet.
How the hell do they manage to make so many scratches on a brand new car?! Geesh, terrible

But did you try to pull your seats out!? Did ya!? Did ya!?

crazy policy for defects that ”the delivery team” should fix before delivery. I’m driving 700 miles and rented a car one way for the last 250 miles. The 100 mile barely gets me out of Kansas City. I am going to have to have an early morning appointment so I can sit in and out of the car doing a detailed inspection, which will not reveal problems with wind noise and other driving related glitche. I am old enough to remember vinyl 45 rpm records. I do not need problems. Wish Tesla would get a clue about what delivery and service mean. i don’t have problems buying a new Apple iMac but it seems I sure will with a >$115 k car.
sounds like "fix it on next service appt" policy is alive and well til end of quarter. Us buyers should beware. I hate to say it, but leave no stone unturned. They'll fix it at next service appt-- or you should refuse the car. Field X's especially should be close to perfect, since they may have already been rejected. I'd be happy personally to get a field X to inspect at this point.. But it's healthy for Tesla to have the same car rejected twice. It's a lesson for them.

There I said it.

Uggh. if so I think its a bad move at least for the Y. They need to start lowering prices so non-EV owners have hope and feel there is somewhere to go to, affordability wise.
Tesla responds quickly to supply and demand. At some point our crazy economy will swing in a different direction and Tesla will respond with lower prices if market conditions indicate it is to their benefit to do so. They have done it before and they react very quickly, (unlike legacy auto makers). There are many competitors just getting ramped up and there will be competitive pressure in the future. Tesla will make pricing changes when it makes sense. Hyundai and Kia are making big waves right now, BMW is coming on strong with i4 and iX models, Ford has big plans, Rivian and Lucid are still in the running and many other compelling options are becoming available, practically every day. Tesla has huge profit margin built into their products that lets them change their pricing dramatically while still remaining profitable.
The good news is everyone on this forum thread has already ordered at much more attractive pricing so we have already won.
