Replacing Front Upper Frame

Has anyone done this?

I have a P85D that was involved in an unfortunate collision. It hit on the left-front and the impact shattered parts of the cast-aluminum upper frame, so the whole frame has to be replaced.

It has two ~10" rail-tubes which slide into the main body rails. These are bolted, and glued with Lord Fusor 2098 structural adhesive. Lord tells me I can heat the rails to 165F and pry to break the cross-linked bond, but it looks like there is almost no room for movement.

I have a donor car which will provide the new part, and that one might be easy: I'll grind off the corners and peel back the body tubes, to release the front frame tubes.

But there has to be some way to get out the damaged frame. Is it possible to do only one side and weld the two halves together? This has to pass Tesla's recert.
