JL Warren Capital LLC , an equity research firm focused on Chinese companies, has issued a note saying Tesla suppliers are receiving parts orders that indicate the company’s production pace is improving.

The firm says SAS Automotive, a German cockpit manufacturer and assembler, ordered 20,000 display screens for the Model 3 in May, and 10,000 in June from a sole producer in China, according to a Bloomberg report.

The Chinese supplier plans to produce about 58,000 screens in the third quarter, which would nearly meet Tesla’s goal of 20,000 cars produced for the month.

Tesla has missed its Model 3 production targets every quarter since the car was introduced. Chief Executive Elon Musk said on last week’s earnings call that he’s most excited about a “rapid increase of output.” He said Model 3 production has achieved a “peak hour” equivalent to a rate of 5,000 cars per week. Musk said “if you can achieve it even once,” a focus on refinement will help you eventually sustain the rate.

I would just argue that the end of the article has incorrect quote
He said Model 3 production has achieved a “peak hour” equivalent to a rate of 5,000 cars per week. Musk said “if you can achieve it even once,” a focus on refinement will help you eventually sustain the rate.

He was actually talking about batteries, not cars. Here's the quote
In the last 24 hours at the Gigafactory, we managed to keep a sustained rate of over 3,000 packs per week. We actually reached a peak hour, extrapolated outward would be a rate of over 5,000 cars per week…

So, I don't believe there's a precedent of 5K cars yet.

wow ..... that's a lot of screens .... sure wish Tesla had ordered that many Model X (only 1/2 the cost) windshields to eliminate the ghosting, as that became so sorely apparent by many owners, including yours truly. Maybe that way we wouldn't have had to spend $100's for a polarizing film, that at LEAST diminished the horrible effect so as to not cause headaches. But NOOOOO, Tesla was busy denying that windshield ghosting was even an issue. Gotta love it. Can't wait for our lease to be up. SOOO sorry for the poor slob that picks up our X as a lease return.
