Ride quality degraded

I have just over 120k on my 2015 S 85 w/standard suspension. The ride quality has gotten worse in the past year or so. I get the clanking on small bumps in the road, so I think that’s the control arms which I’m getting replaced soon. But will that improve the ride quality or is it about time to replace the shocks? And if so are there upgraded shocks that give better ride quality?

I had a lot of noise going over bumps = replacing the upper control arms make the car very quiet again. I was able to get the noises to happen my bouncing my weight on the door sill. The ride itself feels about the same as before - just feels a lot nicer without the noises.
