Rivian Deliveries Pushed to 2022

Rivian has started notifying customers that they will need to wait a bit longer to receive their vehicles.

Rivian has sent notifications that lay out delivery windows for the “Launch Edition” that range from March to September. It’s reasonable to assume that the company’s less-pricey “Adventure” and “Explore” packages will also be pushed to the second half of 2022.

While Rivian has started production of its all-electric R1T pickup, few have been delivered. The R1S SUV was expected to go into production next month, but it is not clear if that will be the case.

Rivian currently operates a single factory in Normal, Illinois and is reportedly looking for a second factory location.

Early reviews of the R1T pickup have been strong. And investors have been supportive, as the company’s recent IPO gave it a market capitalization of $100 billion.

Looks like a lot of cancellations today. Big price bump for reservations. And a lot of complaining online.
I can imagine.

I will be very irritated if the Cybertruck price goes up, but I only plopped $100 down. Imagine if you put down $1000 3+ years ago and are only now getting told your price is raising. Particularly since they are only just barely cranking out the first few trucks after a year of delays.

20% price increases..
A mere 17%… even less than that if you optioned up.

I jest… mostly.

If you got the adventure pack, all terrain tires, Extra Large battery, and a decent paint color, it’s only a 13% price increase.

Yep…. Likely canceling my order.

But if you think the prices of the cybertruck won’t be much higher you’re delusional
If Cybertruck prices go up 17% they are still tolerable compared to ICE trucks, many of which have also gone up.

Ultimately that’s what Tesla‘s goal with the Cybertruck was, to have prices competitive with ICE.

My guess is the initial cybertruck will be somewhere around 90-100k. Most definitely more then their comparable ICE counterpart.

When they announced it, the 500 mile range Cybertruck was $2k more than the quad motor Rivian. My suspicion is they will end up in that ballpark or less.

Tesla has some massive cost advantages over Rivian.

Regardless… saving any worry about this until it hits. No point getting frustrated by something which might not happen. Then I just end up frustrated twice… with the expectation, and late with the reality.

dang, 20% increase on EARLY reservation holders? Would've been nicer if they threw in a bone for early reservations. Like price hike for orders after this date....
It’s a 12-17% increase.

Early reservation holders may well have their trucks configured already and a price locked in. It’s a fixed increase of $12k.

EDIT: OOPS.. Nope.

Has Tesla raised their prices in the past on reservation holders?

I put in my reservation on the Model Y on Nov. 4th. Nov. 5th, Tesla raised the price $1,000, and eight days later, another $1,000.

But being I had a reservation; they honored the price it was at when I put down my reservation.

Does anyone know of a situation where someone had a deposit down on a Tesla, and Tesla raised the price afterwards?

Just wondering....
