I'm in the same boat - in the end, I decided that it's not worth taking a 30k hit on what you paid plus paying 80k plus for a model x. It's not much different and Y is not a bad car.
Ditto, I want an X Plaid and I have been seeing some lightly used ones around $82-$85k frequently. Is it worth about double as my 22 performance? I dont think so. My car is paid for and I can pay cash for the difference but $40-$50k give or take is a lot of money for a vehicle I dont think is worth the difference. I plan to keep mine until I can get a cybertruck. For $50k I can put towards a fun car like a viper or an r8 that wont lose much value if I sell in a year or two. Hell I just bought a single family home in the midwest for $55k that i rent out for $1,100 per month. I could do that again and have my money make me money rather than dump into an X.

Well…. Tesla is selling new ones for $47K after the federal subsidy. So a 2 year old used one would be worth a lot less than $47K. $35K is actually pretty good.
I guess if it’s the new norm for Tesla it’s pretty good. Almost every other two year old car is holding value much better. It certainly should be a purchase consideration. 10K buys a lot of gas!

It’s highly unlikely that Tesla will do another monster price cut. So, going forward, buyers ought to be pretty safe. Further, what is mind blowing, is that used 2022s in my market are selling for mid $40s or higher. Why are people buying a used Tesla for $48K when they could get a new one for $47K?

The current price for a Y performance is only a few dollars cheaper than I paid in 2021. Let’s not use the price cut to justify the poor resale compared to ICE vehicles.
