Roof rack fairing

Is it worth using a fairing for the roof rack? Would it be better for aerodynamics or worse than OEM design?

Yakima 40” fairing should fit right (also WTB).

Havent put a fairing on mine, i feel like i read somewhere that it actually reduced the mileage more that just the roof rack alone.

A fairing would increase the frontal area and likely increase the aerodynamic drag compared to just the rack.

A fairing may have been useful in the old days of non-aero roof rack crossbars that otherwise could be noisy, but roof racks these days are typically installed with aero cross bars.
