RPM "Sale" prices seem shady

Is it just me or does RPM's "Sales" / "Promotions" seem somewhat suspect?

I got an email from them today about 22% off discount, today only. An item I had been looking at (MY cargo cover is usually $189 after 20% off) is priced higher with the 22% off than it is with the usual 20% off they always offer (when you spend over $100).

Their shady glitch on their website even demonstrates this... $189 after 20% off but $204 with the 22% off discount. What am I missing?

Looks like they are baking shipping into the price but not very clear about it; 189 + 15 for shipping = 204. Taking out shipping, discount would actually be higher. Not sure where the 20 applies [contiguous US here].

Our new Tailgate Retractable Cargo Bay Cover is only $189 Plus $20 Shipping in the contiguous U.S., and $40 total to ship to Canada, $15 is added at Checkout.

If anyone is interested, I have $224 credit with RPMTesla after returning the cargo cover. I bought the cargo cover months ago not realizing it will be 100 days before we received our Y. I will sell the credit for $200.

I think you're right. They must be adding $20 to the total "regular" price and then with 22% off, it works out to $204, as you have stated. Whereas with the always available "20% off", it'd be $189 + 20 shipping = $209 instead if the $204.

That's where I think they're not clear. It says $20 for shipping, but going through the check out process, shipping is free. However, a statement on the page says "...$15 is added at Checkout," but don't really say why. Handling fee?

I wouldn't say shady, just more expensive than similar items (or in some cases the same thing, just rebadged).

That reminds me, I still have a retractable cargo cover in the box hiding in my garage. Forgot all about it until I saw this thread. Maybe I'll put it in this weekend

I do not think there is anything shady with RPM. I have ordered many, many products from them other the last month. Their customer service has been excellent and their prices very competitive. For the items I have received thus far, the quality is as expected and I will continue to give them my business.
