I left my tires at 41 pounds and I think they are quieter at 70 mph and over. I know I am taking a hit on mileage but I really dislike the tire noise over 70. Has only else tried this? Any thoughts?
Possibly quieter but there are many other variables including speed, tire model and tread pattern, remaining tire tread and road composition. The recommended tire pressure is 42 PSI. For every pound of tire pressure less you may experience approximately 1/2 % lower efficiency.
Tire pressure is interesting. Going from 45->42 made a huge difference. It made my car feel like it had a different suspension. I deflated my tires to 32 to refill with nitrogen (the Costco a half mile away has an unlimited self-serve nitrogen filling station) and didn't notice a significant increase in comfort like I did when going from 45 to 42. Sorry that was a bit off topic but I was surprised at how much more comfortable the car was at 42.
In your case I think 41 PSI cold is perfectly fine. Musk even recommend slightly lower tire pressure on Twitter.
