2 days ago, I was sideswiped at 60mph by a small dump truck...literally.

No glass breakage, no airbag deployment. the door still opens and closes...and I am still driving it while the body shop puts in orders for parts.

Initial estimate: $2900.

Walked away without a single scratch.

i expect the estimate to be higher once the shop starts looking at it. no seat belts in the frunk. only good for photo ops right now. LOL

I had almost the same situation a few weeks ago. All the side airbags deployed (was also by myself), very similar damage except that the front fender also got some of the hit. Car was totaled, $40k+ in damage.

That was a minor hit glad you are Ok. Good job keeping your cool and not jerking the wheel away and causing a more severe accident.

Airbags are for violent events where you might bounce around and hit the interior.

You would have been fine in almost any car.
