The 4680s are part of a structural battery pack. Because it is structural, and new, it has to go through crash testing at NHTSA before it can be released. Musk implied that the testing was going on during the earnings call recently. I cannot imagine that they would ship a car with this setup without a big announcement that structural battery packs have been approved and that they passed crash testing with glorious numbers and a 5 star plus rating.

Midnight silver 7 seater w/ 20" ind. wheels. Everything else is standard. No hitch or FSD.
EDD has been sitting at 3/5 - 3/31 for a few weeks with no movement and no VIN
Ordered in Sac, CA.
Question: For those of you who have gotten VINs, do they assign them in the middle of the day at times or always overnight?

Call and ask support regarding your specific vin. They will be able to tell you.
Just thinking about this a little more. Maybe they were shining you on, in which case that was very disrespectful. Or they really didn't know in which case that seems amazingly naïve. Either way. Sheesh.

A little tidbit from my SA. If you get AMD, you also get 12V lithium and heated wipers. Apparently they come as a bundle. The SA was super helpful and has managed deliveries for 4 years.

Confirmed with Delivery Specialist, my vehicle with VIN F385 has AMD chip & Li Battery.1 Hour later Final Payment Complete Via App! Waiting for Insurance Company to verify VIN... My vin is so new they need time to verifyVehicle will be traveling 6 hours down the freeway to Los Angeles so it looks like a quick turn around. I hope the build date is today....it is for my wife, quite a Valentines Gift

I’m confused on all this intel talk lately. Has anyone shown proof of taking a delivery of an intel with a build date of 2/1/22 or later? I’m pretty sure someone was told by a service center that their car was intel and since then people continue to speculate. Anyone actually have proof with a build date?

I have an F369 - build date of 1/26 - has AMD chip and lithium battery.
According to the excel spreadsheet linked under the folder heading, people with both LR and P builds after 2/1 have still received intel but I haven’t seen actual pictures of it on the forums.
I also have a blue LR that I ordered on 9/12 recently get delayed to June. It even had a 2 week delivery window for the end of Feb a couple weeks ago. I was asked for trade-in's via txt and calls. since 2/6 it has been bouncing between "June" and random month-long date ranges between June & July. Frustrating.
I don't even care about a later delivery (Austin, 4680, a year to get winter tires, time to get a charger installed, etc.) but the extreme unpredictability and the impact on one's life around selling a car, getting cash ready for purchase, etc. sucks. It is incredibly rude the way this is playing out and not the best way to start a new customer relationship.
Sales advisor confirmed not Austin built or 4680. Service guy must have been very confused. Go figure.
