Setting GPS to avoid freeways on a specific trip

When doing a local trip, I prefer to avoid freeways. The GPS on my 2022 Model 3 keeps wanting to find the freeway route. If I look the route up on Google Maps, I can set it to avoid freeways on a given trip, and I can even send that map to my Model 3, but although my Tesla will receive the address, it still plots a route using the freeways. I am unable to find any setting for avoiding freeways on a specific trip, and am unable to find any setting to instruct the Navigator to follow the Google Map as it was sent. Does anyone here have any suggestions?

Use your phone to navigate, Tesla navigation does not have that option.

Try Navigation>Online Routing and turn that off. You don't want time or traffic to influence the route, this is the switch. Toggle off and send your selected route to your car from the phone.

You can also set a waypoint on the route you chose to take and see if that will get you the desired route plan.

The app will only send a single destination, not a route.

In the route options where you can set "avoid toll roads", there should be a switch for avoiding highways as well.
