Steering mode

Hello I am hoping to get a answer for a friend who is a new model y owner
He asked me if steering mode (comfort,standard or sport) does choosing any one of these lessen range more than any other
I didn’t have a answer for that one for him

I would look at it thusly.

How much energy do you expend steering in sport mode vs comfort mode. No a heck of a lot of difference right? There's your answer.

Without going around a lazy figure 8 track there would be little point in trying to prove how much more power is soaked up in comfort mode. Could even be less for all I know.

The other way would be long term testing as the variables.of weather and traffic I expect would far outweigh the power steer assist mode.

I'd definitely say that comfort costs more energy, but the difference would be so very small you should ignore it. Use what is 'comfortable' to you. For me, that's 'sport' mode all the time. I'd much rather have a better feel for the road than be able to move the steering wheel without effort.

It would make sense that more steering assist uses more electricity. That has minimal impact in the grand scheme of things. If you truly worry about range, slow down on the highways. It’s too easy to go fast in these cars.
