Subzero package

I live in an area with cold winters. Do I NEED the subzero package?

Sub-Zero package includes:

• Heated rear seats
• Heated windshield wiper

YOU probably don't need it(driver seat is heated either way). But whoever is sitting in the 2nd/3rd row might disagree.

I live in WI, the heat strip across the bottom of the windshield is really nice but if you have a heated garage might not get used much.

The heated rear seats are nice, might save a lot of power(range) if you are winter roadtripping with passengers back there.

i live in Chicago and 100% believe the subzero package is a must have.

added to the heated seats (front, 2nd and 3rd all get heated seats), is the heated steering wheel - which i love.

Add heated washer nozzles to that.

A person can get by without sub-zero I suppose. But it sure makes life a whole lot easier. We do a considerable amount winter traveling and use the features of sub-zero frequently.

If you pre-condtion your car you will be ok, BUT my kids love heated seats when we go skiing especially when I forget to pre-condition.

Windshield wiper blades will always freeze up, and pre-conditioning is pretty much essential if you plan a long drive on a snowy day. After 140 miles you will need to recharge anyway, and you will almost always need to crack the ice off the wiper blades.

The rear spoiler is a pain in the ass and I wish I could delete it in the Winter. It prevents snow and ice from falling off the rear window, despite the slope of the rear window. I am seriously considering pulling the plug and installing a rear window third brake light in it's place for Winter driving. (I have the retractable style spoiler). Pre-heating at least allows the snow to melt off and be pushed off when parked.

I don't think the heated washer nozzles are helpful.

The heated steering wheel is nice I forgot it because my S predates that feature though I enjoyed on the loaner.

I second (or third, or fourth) the heated steering wheel option part of it ! Really nice in cold weather.

I have found the heated wipers and nozzles very effective. However I have read some folks found them not effective. A mobile tech advised there were some assembly issues on some MX with Subzero and they were not working properly.

Tech used an amp meter to measure the load on the nozzles and wipers to confirm mine was working right. Heated steering, seats front and back, and the windshield elements make it a must for northeast, or northern areas.

There’s a button on the heated seats page of the HVAC pop up window that activates them.

I found a used 100D for <70k which is within my budget. It doesn’t have the subzero package. Come December will I regret making this tradeoff for more range?

Need, no. Want, definitely.

Heated steering wheels are a wonderful thing, and having all the seats heated is useful if you have passengers regularly.

Hmmm, You didn’t say when that Model X was built. Is it possible that it already has it?

I’m sure someone here remembers when the Sub-Zero package became cold weather features and where then considered standard equipment??

Used to think a heated steering wheel was a foolish gimmick...until I tried it...Quite the luxury.
