A quick reading of the FDOT website does not mention a discontinuation of the HOV program in 2017. Can you provide the source of your information or a link to an authoritative source on the subject.

Since those stories are a couple of years old, fingers crossed that they will delay or cancel this plan. Free Express Lane use was a big part of the economics for my decision to buy a Tesla.

I was mislead by the current date at the top of the web page for the Sun Sentinel article. On further inspection it shows that it was three years old like the first article.

Yesterday, I sent an email to the FDOT asking for their official position. As I mentioned earlier I couldn't find anything on the FDOT website stating that the program will be discontinued this year.

I finally received an official response to my inquiry from FDOT.

Good Morning,

You recently contacted us regarding the Hybrid Express Lane program expiration date. The program has been extended until September of 2019.
