No, I disagree with your comment that they are mounted backwards. In this configuration, the cable need not be twisted 180 degrees toward the car's plug (saving stress on the cable). The 'rubber' stop is the marker for how far to back up giving plenty of cable distance to the car.

Walked to Main St. while charging.

Red hawk is close to the main road vs Jackson Casino being kind of far away. I love the jackson location because it's right between two main routes.

I'm trying to figure out what I can do there with kids .... Gotta find an excuse to pass by

@bmah, I saw your quotes in the Amador Business Ticker: How Tesla Came to Jackson

Found this thread when searching for Kirkwood supercharger. It's been rumored for awhile; I guess there's a KPMUD meeting happening on May 8 that has EV charging on the agenda. It sounds like they've disabled the destination chargers for the summer (!!). This is a big deal as my in-laws have a house there but no driveway/garage. It's no big deal for us to walk from the lodge to the house, leave the car overnight.

The Jackson supercharger is a big improvement as no detour to Manteca is required. In our Model 3, we can make it on a full charge, but arrive with only about 60 miles-- not a ton of buffer, but it would get us (slowly) downhill to South Lake Tahoe / Stateline to charge in the event the kirkwood chargers are down.

Anyway, back to Kirkwood -- Rumor is a supercharger and then more J1772 chargers. They uninstalled the 2 clipper creek units they had, which is silly; why get rid of all non-Tesla chargers.

Of course, the Superchargers won't be free, but I'd rather pay a few bucks and be able to see it on my map, know it's active, and have it maintained by Tesla. In turn, they should install (at least) some more J1772 L2 chargers for Tesla owners and non-Tesla owners alike. If they want to charge a nominal fee, so be it-- again, it makes it slightly more likely they'll actually work!

Holiday weekend is bad timing for a closure. My in-laws found out the hard way, but were able to get a charger at Kirkwood eventually (there are fewer available now, and they were all taken when they arrived). Also, it sounds like the KW chargers took forever -- i think 16h estimate so it must have been way low amperage.

They gave us the heads up so we stopped by Manteca on our way here.

I'll have to go out to the car to check to see if Jackson has re-opened yet. We've got 120mi and a lot of downhill so I probably won't bother plugging in here at Kirkwood. Too often I put it to like 70% and *still* have compromised regen on the way back down to sea level.
