Sussex M3LR towbar retrofit

I’m not aware of a retrofit service available because as you know the model 3 isn’t rated for towing unless specced at time of order.

If you really need to retrofit a tow bar, I’d suggest fitting one yourself. If you can, try and source a used tow crossmember from a salvaged car. You can buy all the other parts directly from Tesla. The OEM tow ball neck is removable as well.

You can go for an aftermarket kit but often the wiring for lights is very complicated or just not available. Even if you go for OEM parts you still need to activate Trailer Mode using the Tesla toolbox software, as I don’t think Tesla will do this for you.

I should add that Trailer Mode is important because it stops the rear sensors from going crazy when it constantly detects the objects behind you.
