Tesla Model S - 2018 - AP 2.5

hi

I am planning to buy a Tesla Model S 2018 75 D previously used as a car rental from a third party car dealer. The car dealer is not very knowledgeable on the AP functionality and does not have the original sticker which lists the features the car has.

Will this car have AP 2.5 or Enhanced auto pilot built in?

Can I upgrade it after taking the delivery to FSD?

I called up Tesla but they won’t help me on this.

Every 2018 will have AP2.5 hardware, but not necessarily the software enabled.
You can add basic AP for $3000 (lane keeping, TACC) and FSD (summon, NoA, not actually self driving yet*) over that for $6000.

It also has MCU 2 so you can no worry upgrade for FREE to MCU 3 or possibly 4 when the time comes. It's been a toss up on if MCU 1s will be upgraded.

You're confusing MCU and AP computers

MCU is the center screen. MCU1 was promised an upgrade to MCU2 and is feasible but hasn't been offered yet

AP2 and AP2.5 are promised upgrades to AP3 and supposedly will be done. AP1 will NOT be upgraded and they have said that.

There's people that say yes and no, that is what I am alluding to. MCU2 will no doubt be upgraded since the car already has FSD paid for
