I started to complete the online form. Then I stopped.

Four things raised flags for me.

1. There was at least one, maybe two, redirects. I would think that if Tesla was contacting me, it would do so by sending me to a page directly, not with redirections.

2. The redirections ended at a non-Tesla URL. If it were legitimate, why was I not landing on a Tesla page?

3. Tesla already has most of the information that the form requested, such as name, address, etc. Why would Tesla be asking me for information I have already given them?

4. Every Tesla owner has a Tesla app on a device. I would think that if it were a legitimate Tesla communication that it would come as some notification on the app.

That was my point earlier. And if you look up who the final landing page belongs to it’s a property management firm in California which doesn’t seem to have anything to do with Tesla or Canadian policy.

I get that some people know it’s legitimate but it sets off every red flag of a phishing attempt.
