PSA: It's the same cost(and process) as the old High Voltage inspection, but renamed. 900$I guess THIS will give some people one less thing to hate Tesla for:
Tesla starts giving back Supercharger access to salvaged vehicles
Not according to Electrek... They say it is in addition to the HV inspection. And they claim to have seen the internal communications.PSA: It's the same cost(and process) as the old High Voltage inspection, but renamed. 900$
OK... I’d be happy to show you the many times they’ve posted incorrect things, but… I’ll let these screen shots show you.Not according to Electrek... They say it is in addition to the HV inspection. And they claim to have seen the internal communications.
True, but the same thing applies to Service Center staff. They put out bad information too.Plllllleeeeassseee don’t quote a “journalist” and presume it to be the law of the land.
LOL. dude. Please, quit. Take the L, tuck your tail.True, but the same thing applies to Service Center staff. They put out bad information too.
The process is for all models.Let’s not get personal on this. Also, that article is about Model 3s, which seem to have a different mechanism for salvage vs fast charge disablement thsn the S.
Fred has made mistakes but he’s pretty good about correcting them. Also, he’s quoting green. And although green is speculating, he’s rarely mistaken.
How about you share the whole document, or at least the whole header? Because that looks just like the one I have that is just for the HV inspection, and doesn't cover anything to do with Supercharging. (ie. your photo doesn't show anything about the new Supercharging policy.)The process is for all models.
Fred’s article is plain wrong. Nothing was personal, aside from pointing out the author of said misinformation.
Again: no “journalist”/bloggist has my permission to use these photos.
The “whole doc” I have had my personal information. If you’d like to pay me 20,000$ I’d gladly post my personal info. How about you share the whole document, or at least the whole header? Because that looks just like the one I have that is just for the HV inspection, and doesn't cover anything to do with Supercharging. I know mine is a little old, what is the date on yours?

I strangely got some conflicting information from the Tesla service technician. He says it's a "two step process" to enable supercharging (see first screenshot). He then said he will "send over the estimate for the first inspection", to which I asked whether there are actually two separate inspections, to which he replied yes (see second screenshot).PSA: It's the same cost(and process) as the old High Voltage inspection, but renamed. 900$
I see we now have Tesla service providing information that agrees with what Electrek reported and is in direct contradiction to what Tesla told you. Which one should we believe?LOL. dude. Please, quit. Take the L, tuck your tail.
You. Are. Wrong.
Fred. Is. Wrong.
@darkvoltage5 This person is reporting a single Fast Charging inspection (gen 3) for a 2018 Model S, and it only costs $175.I have a new estimate from Tesla. Now they are charging me for a Fast Charging inspection - which I guess is two parts: "Busbar Charge Port Fast Charging" and "Harness Charge Port Fast Charging". $1433 for the whole process; $1537 with tax. Ugh, that is not cheap.
At least I'll get all the inspections done in one visit. Appointment is tomorrow.
That makes much more sense. Thanks for keeping us up to date.Good news - I do not actually need two fast charging inspections.
Tesla service messaged me saying "please excuse the previous message, I have updated the inspections based on the charging system hardware installed in your vehicle". Now I have an estimate for a single "Busbar Charge Port Fast Charging Safety Inspection" for $351 (plus the high voltage inspection of course). I'm glad to see that they double-checked it and it'll be a little less expensive now.
