Also can someone tell me how they know this? Is this public record? Did the friend who was called to corroborate not have to sign a NDA? How did they find the settlement payment amount? Is that public record? How did they know Musk personally attended the mediation?

"In 2018, after becoming convinced that her refusal to accept Musk's proposal had diminished her opportunities at SpaceX, the attendant hired a California employment lawyer and sent a complaint to the company's human resources department detailing the episode. Around that time, the attorney's firm contacted the friend and asked her to prepare the declaration corroborating the claims.

The attendant's complaint was resolved quickly after a session with a mediator that Musk personally attended. The matter never reached a court of law or an arbitration proceeding. In November 2018, Musk, SpaceX and the flight attendant entered into a severance agreement granting the attendant a $250,000 payment in exchange for a promise not to sue over the claims.

The agreement also included restrictive non-disclosure and non-disparagement clauses that bar the attendant from ever discussing the severance payment or disclosing any information of any kind about Musk and his businesses, including SpaceX and Tesla."

I guess that means outraged leftists aren't cancelling orders en-mass.
However I would encourage anyone with the least bit of hesitation in Tesla or Elon please quickly cancel their cyber truck reservations. If 300,000 of you do that right away I would be very grateful. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter

Elon doesnt deny it outright, and instead said there “is a lot more to the story”, and spaceX confirmed a settlement was made. Elon asked for more time to respond to the story, which BusinessInsider gave him, but Elon did not respond - instead SpaceX lawyers said they don‘t comment on settlement agreements.

I suggest reading the article for yourselves to judge the veracity of it.

What? One can invest in a company because they think its a fantastic investment opportunity, but also not agree at all with the political views and/or personal behaviour of the CEO. I don’t see how that is in anyway absurd.

What's absurd is your kneejerk reaction to a new story we know next to nothing about yet. I'd like to think most people take some time to learn more facts about a situation before making large decisions based on those facts, rather than immediately jumping to a drastic choice on very little info.

But hey, you do you, and good luck? 🤔

So the attendant spilled the beans to her friend after the lawsuit right after signing the NDA? That's a lot of details about the settlement that shouldn't see the light of day.
It's an NDA leak. It's easy to come up with a million ways it could get out. Elon's got a lot of big pocketed haters, how many zeros to turn the attendant or friend...?

After yesterday, and now this, I am embarrassed to own TSLA. I love money, so will continue to hold the stock, but man do I have to hold my nose now.

EDIT: just told my wife, she no longer wants us to get a Tesla (we were waiting on the model Y to be released here).
For every Tesla "lover" who no longer wants to buy a Tesla or be an investor for political reasons, there are more than one who now want to buy a Tesla or invest, for political reasons.
Good riddance.

weak NDA leak if you can't get the actual person to fess up. That's the difference between this nonsense and what happened to Trump. Trump's accusers were the actual people which makes it more credible, not some friend with no name.

This was released about 5pm. Plenty of time for the SP to get trashed.

But SP closed at 715, up 5.5 points at 8pm.

So far as a SP hit job, this is a terrible failure.

I would have to guess that we will never know the truth. We do know that she took the money and walked and is not willing to talk about it, but her friend is.

I don’t see anything here. As people have already posted, if a bunch of females come out of the woodwork, or if more details come out corroborating the account we should be concerned. Until then nothing to talk about. I am sure that hysterical media attempts to induce panic will be rampant tomorrow. Let’s see if it gets any traction when it is on all the news feeds.

The tragic thing really is that the oil gets extracted, the poison gets refined and produced. The 99.9% of cars burn it killing thousands every year.

My money and your money get used to subsidy that every year. Trillions of your money gets used to pay for that. Yet the mob has a lot to say about Elon buying or not buying Twitter.

Sucks to be Elon. Elon has done more for our own good than anybody else ever. He is the richest dude now. Yet, many tell him how to spend his money.

Several have stated that they will not even buy a car his company produces because he is not for or agains the political party of their liking.

I truly believe that humans don't deserve to be saved. No matter if you are Jesus Christ or Elon the mob will always *sugar* on you.

Just saw the hit piece posted on some publications on FB. The comment section was nothing but "lib hit piece the minute Musk said he is voting republican"..

Mr. Musk that's some 4D chess you are playing here announcing that you are voting Republican before the article comes out and now the world thinks this is a political hit piece.

Edit: Now thinking about it, he probably said "there's more to this story, give me an extension" just to buy time for his 4D chess move...that's why he ignored BI.

If MM are gonna give us lemons tomorrow, and trigger a hit ... I say time to make lemonade ..... back up the truck y'all ... cheers!!

+ Futures green, TSLA SP way down, we gonna find buyers below 700, so I don't think this is gonna work. If SP was very high, I think it would ... let's see ...
I’ve been waiting to convert shares to LEAPS. Was hoping the stock would trade sideways for a month to lower IV but after this “news”, tomorrow might be the day.

At Tesla’s estimated $30k per year profit per car, a Robotaxi would need around 1 year to pay for its upfront expenses from fare profits. So, scaling at a rate higher than 100% would require working capital just for paying for CoGS on each vehicle. But then they’ll also be spending many billions up front on actively expanding factories, installing charger capacity, and developing mines and refining facilities. So the combined effect is that the sheer rate of production growth at 70-80% per year (“or probably faster than that in the future”) will swamp the influx of profits and require a lot of cash, probably at $1-3B per quarter.
On second look, this was wrong and greatly understated the cash flow needs to build the Tesla Network fleet.

If the taxi costs $30k to make and has a $30k payback per year, then that’s an amazing ROI with an expected cash flow stream worth about $200k. But even so, the monthly profit is only $2.5k. It takes a year to make back the money spent on manufacturing. As the saying goes, you gotta spend money to make money.

If for example in steady state conditions they make 100k robotaxis per month it’ll be a monthly manufacturing cost of $3B or $36B invested in year one. Profits from that linearly growing fleet would have been 0.5 * $2.5k * 1.2M cars * 12 months = $18B. So with linear growth you’d need $36B - $18B = $18B in free cash to make up the gap until positive cash flow begins in Month 13.

With exponential growth, the lag effect is somewhat stronger. To hold things equal, let’s imagine they still spend $36B making 1.2M cars in Year 1 but they did it with exponential growth at 80% annualized or 5% month over month. That scenario is more realistic for the production ramp and is shown in the table below.

Note:
  • 19 months until positive monthly cash flow when the fleet profits finally eclipse manufacturing costs from growing the fleet
  • 32 months for the program to break even on total cumulative earnings
  • Maximum of $23B of working capital required cumulatively before reaching positive earnings on Month 19

Now let’s run it again but assume that the 80% production CAGR requires ongoing CapEx of $6B/year or $0.5B/month. We will assume Tesla gets ever more efficient with CapEx per unit of capacity as they have been for years, so we’ll keep it at the same level for the whole time.

Now we don’t start making positive cash flow until Month 22, need a maximum of $32B of investable cash, and break even overall at Month 36.

This is generously assuming that the Tesla Network immediately hits the goal of $2.5k per month profit per vehicle from inception, and that Tesla continues to sell a bunch of their overall production to private owners instead of going 100% Robotaxi which would require more like $100B in total cash to do starting at expected 2024 run rates.

Building out a gigantic fleet at top speed while also supposedly investing a bunch in Optimus, mining and VPPs will require so much working capital if anything, another equity offering to raise capital seems much more likely than a share buyback at least until around 2027.

Futures are up so that probably explains the AH action. That article is such a hit piece. The friend of the alleged accuser has this to say!

Remaining silent, the friend said, would make her complicit. "When you choose to remain silent, yeah, you do become a part of that system," she said. "You do become a part of that machine that allows someone like Elon Musk to continue to do the horrible things that he's done."

Way too much cancel culture and “guilty unless proven innocent” stuff going on in here lately. People forget the mission so easily. And this from Business Insider aka Tesla FUD central.

I’ve seen a lot of FUD since I learned of Tesla in 2009. But it takes a special kind of naïve to trust an article from Business Insider that magically hits the presses just as Tesla reaches a bottom in stock price.
