This is so funny .
These numbers don’t mean anything .
Most people in India don’t like to declare their wealth .
You have to be there to see it first hand and then you will believe it .

Source? 10% of US citizens over age 18 are millionaires, doubt it.

As we approach the end of the year, I'm thinking of the quote from the Tesla sales guy (?) which I can't now find from this forum, which presaged the price drops ... paraphrased "This is the year we kill ICE". Most of you remember it, I bet. We all cheered, but now it's happening.
Tesla's massive price drops shook the EV world.

It wasn't world-wide, it was from a Tesla Europe conference, as reported by TeslaMag.de (here's the quote tweeted by @avoigt and a video from Rob Maurer)

Alex on X: "Tesla's internal slogan for the year 2023: This Year We Kill the ICE" /X

Tesla Aims For Hyper Growth | Tesla Daily (May 02, 2023)

This conference occurred before the FED did it's last rounds of interest rate increases. I think the slogan should be updated to: "The is the year JPow kills the Economy". They really, really seem to want their recession...

Since May 2nd, we've also heard that Tesla may delay commissioning the 2nd Model Y line at Giga Berlin. Some of this may be labor (supply, availablilty for ext'd hours work, costs of benefits), while some of this is supply vs demand for the vehicles in the present economy.

We do know that Tesla is pushing on with plans for Phase 2, and they will build the Gen 3 vehicle there, but it also seems that Tesla may be choosing the regular (vs accelerated) build schedule compared to Phase 1, where the construction was completed before a final permit was received, thus putting more risk (and drama) on Tesla. In Tesla's favor this time however will be the fact that they are not requesting additional water allocation for the additional production (fake Bravarian greens be damned).

TL;dr 2023 WASN'T the year.

I wonder if that is liquid assets or all in (such as including the assessment for an owned house).

Seems like once the deal is penned Tesla may be able to start by importing 3/Y from Shanghai and S/X/etc. from the U.S.?

Highly unlikely that India would grant a import-tarif abatement for MiC cars. That's their whole deal, to build a domestic vehicle industry that is not dependant upon China. More likely, it'll be MiG Model Y cars for India, just as Taiwan gets now. On the brighter side, it will help to even out the sea-borne logistics somewhat, with more car carriers returning from Zeebrugge to Shanghai with paying cargui. ;)
