My Robinhood account is showing my returns for today is -5.3 million dollars..lololol. I think Tesla just trolled the entire market by splitting on the day apple is.

The split is like what Y2K was supposed to be!

Hmmm... TD Ameritrade too. Downdetector seems to show issues at other brokerages if I'm reading this page correctly.

IMO. A lot of buying to deliver dividend shares to those who were told to expect delivery of dividend shares in the next few days. I.e., the manipulators got a pass.

Merrill sent the note out saying options won't be quoted or tradeable online till tomorrow on their platform, but could be phoned in.

I'm a little surprised that brokers are having such a hard time with the 2 splits today. It's not like this is the first time stocks splits... It's not that uncommon.

Edit: I should add that while they got all my shares and total price correct as of this morning, my Unrealized gains are completely wrong. Don't know when they'll fix that...

ib is fine from that perspective.

the unrealized PnL is messed up, but the cost basis is fixed on my stk and options. obviously the positions and pricing are also correct.


it’s important to note there are a number of separate processes to compile all the data.
when a corp action occurs, those processes may not use, or are not able to use, real time data.

add to that brokers handling the posting of the split in different ways.
- some give you the shares
- some give a placeholder in lieu of the shares
brokers won’t receive the split allocation from dtcc until mid-day or tomorrow is my best guess. i’ll find this out when it happens.

so you have varying results manifest in customer accounts across brokerages adding to the confusion.

corporate actions processing are not as simple as they appear!

This means that in dollars the trade volume for TSLA is higher than for AAPL.

$TSLA float ~740M
$AAPL float ~17000M

$AAPL is also ~1/4 of $TSLA so $TSLA is not only trading much higher fraction of float, but more dollars are being transacted as well.

edit: I'm not sure what the VWAP is, but dollar volume is around 25 to 30 percent greater in $TSLA

edit2: when I last checked both it was ~19M and 52M shares traded so ~8.5x float of $TSLA being traded.

Given the shady stuff that goes on behind the scenes I think it’s fair to speculate if some of these glitches this morning are related to the delivery of these dividend shares. We saw glitches with options trades last week with some exchanges not being able to trade. Then we saw IV stay flat even with so much buying. The greed of Wall Street is quite something.

Also big fail on the brokers part. Brokers had 3 weeks to find the dividend shares but they just sit on their behinds and hoping the honest market makers would make it whole? Sure no problem(shrugs).

The action in Casino Tesla is so good today I can't find any seat available in the poker room, a blackjack table, or at a slot machine. The seats in the High Rollers Room are all taken, too! 21M "new" shares traded in the first 45 minutes. WOW!

Seriously, BOD decided to split around $1,375 meaning they were happy with a $275 post-split price. This means once we get to $550 the BOD could split 2-1 whenever Elon feels he needs to do something to "juice" the action again to help him qualify for his next tranche. $550 is only 20% above the current range...

I understand there are enough shares already "authorized" to do it so a shareholder vote is not required?

looks like the ATH intraday will be breached within the first hour today...

I was doing a few LEAPS but most were 3 months out... still enough to get burned with the way the stock was (not) moving...
