@JPR007 seems to have a math error.

500k * 1.5^9 = 19M vehicles sold in 2029, not 2028. It’s possible Tesla planned 600k for this year (we’re still hitting 500k with shutdown.

But 600k * 1.5^8 = 15M cars in 2028, so that still doesn’t work.

It would take 60% growth to make it by 2028. If I’m correct, that would mean one additional year of discounting back to present vale. I don’t believe he specified his discount rate?

The bigger the company the harder it is to maintain huge growth rates. I wonder if Tesla plans > 50% growth early and tapering down to lower rates later in the decade, to maintain a 50% average through the decade? It certainly looks like 2021 and 2022 might see 100%!

Rather than one S or exponential curve, Tesla can lead in many new markets and so you have to overlay the results, so a normalisation in one technology doesn't stop growth in another. Car sales slow, do some eVtol, trucks, Boring Company vehicles, solar, energy storage - one of Musk's companies will do RNA replication, Precision Fermentation, high voltage low-loss long distance transmission. Everything needed for a renewable Earth and Mars.

No, they aren't better (at least not the ones that made it to production), but they never really got a chance due to the patent owner and there have been too many developments in other chemistries for them to catch up now. However, the patent did do what Texaco wanted--slow the adoption of battery powered cars.
And it was an example of patent types that should not be allowed. If you design the first nimh battery, that deserves a patent. If you come up with the concept of putting nimh batteries in cars ,good for you but that does not deserve a patent and artificial government created monopoly.

SEC.gov | SEC Charges Two College Professors in Naked Short Selling Scheme
"Washington D.C., Jan. 31, 2014 —

The Securities and Exchange Commission today charged a pair of college professors in Tallahassee, Fla., with perpetrating a complex naked short selling scheme for more than $400,000 in illicit profits.

Abusive naked short selling occurs when shares are sold without having the shares to deliver, and then intentionally failing to deliver the securities within the standard three-day settlement period. An SEC investigation found that Gonul Colak and Milen Kostov repeatedly engaged in a series of sham transactions designed to perpetuate a naked short position as part of an elaborate options trading strategy. Colak and Kostov were required to deliver the securities underlying their short positions within the standard three days. Instead, their sham reset transactions created the illusion that they had delivered the underlying securities when in fact they had taken no steps to do so. They maintained the uncovered naked short positions and profited.

Thanks, that's it!

Do you all have all your shares in your account? Consors (a German broker) will not give the split shares for a full 3(!) days only giving them out on 2-Sept since they claim they didn't get the additional shares yet:

Vielen Dank.

Translation:

The ex-day of the measure is August 31, 2020. We know that other banks occasionally make advance payments and book the new shares to their customers' accounts. However, this is the exception.

When do we take action?

As soon as the shares are delivered to us from the keeper or records, you will of course receive the shares. This is expected to happen on September 2nd, 2020.

Why don't you get the pieces on August 31, 2020?

This is because Consorsbank does not make any advance payments. And is also so common.

Please be patient until then. Many thanks.

I find this a bit suspicious - that's why there was a date a full week ahead of the split for everyone to get their records in order. Does everyone else have their full shares?

In a presentation I delivered on EVs, I researched the development of the steam engine. James Watt had the patent/license (?) designed to exclude the use of Steam in any form of transportation and vigorously pursued any violations. Only in the US, far from the European laws did Fulton adapt a stationary steam engine to power a boat (a patent violation) and get away with it. Not a patent atty so this is likely somewhat mis-informed.
