Meanwhile in Texas. Details for the state $2500 EV rebate were released this week. A Bentley with a small battery qualifies. The Polestar 2 sold online qualifies, but a Tesla build inside the state by the largest company in Texas is excluded.
There is this little tidbit that might be in play:
"Manufacturers of eligible new light-duty motor vehicles, intermediate or final state
vehicle manufacturers, and manufacturers of CNG or LPG conversion systems are
required to provide the TCEQ a list of vehicle models and conversion systems that
meet the eligibility requirements. The TCEQ will review this information, and will
include eligible vehicle models and conversion systems on the list below. Information
about the list may also be obtained by calling the TERP toll-free number at 1-800-919-
TERP (8377).
The list below is not a final determinant of eligibility and all eligibility
criteria apply regardless of inclusion on the list. "
Though this does put a damper on things:
"Only vehicles offered for sale or lease in Texas are eligible for this rebate grant."
Perhaps this will open a legal door for a lawsuit that would overturn the Dealer Cartel legislation without having to wait for the next session of state congress.
