30th April when they may remove super charging

Your crystal ball is as good as mine ... but my 2p-worth is that included supercharging will continue. With M3 coming on stream, and price for Supercharging having gone up (quite a bit in many places) I think it may become cost effective for Tesla to throw-in Supercharging with MS / MX and make it a part of the "price" - they need things to differentiate MS/MX and M3.

Although debatable how much you would actually spend if you had to pay for Supercharging ... I use it a couple of times a month, so doubt I'd spend much more than £100 a year if I had to pay ... compared to Petrol its a drop in the ocean.

Tesla build quality is not going to do-it for someone who hankers after that final-fit-and-finish, and their Back-office has a lot of improvement to make, but other than that they have track-record which ticks the boxes for me. In terms of delay-for-parts I reckon a small 20K p.a. production run i-Pace may very well be int he same boat.

I'm considering trading in my 2017 model s after 1 year this September and hope tesla would make it attractive to do so against a new car but I'm a bit worried now about how much I will be offered if it's too low then maybe jaguar will offer more against an i-pace.

I’ll echo @Mark_T above, Tesla trade in prices are not friendly at all. I’ve yet to see any owner be impressed with the offer, although that’s not to say the offers were out of line with luxury car depreciation rates, simply that there was no recognition of brand loyalty. They are there to make money and seem to be able to sell as many new cars as they can build so hardly surprising really.

Some owners have sold to the trade, Richard Symons in Bournemouth is a dealer who specialises in Tesla’s (drives one himself) and I’ve heard nothing but excellent reports.

Interesting points of view.if tesla give low trade in figures then people won't want to stick with the brand in my opinion..For example
a Porsche macan retains 70% value after 3 years for spending an initial £50000 .

I’m not sure it’s a case that the car is losing more than others, rather that Tesla don’t want to play in the CPO game and have more stock than they need already. They certainly aren’t geared up for it based on what I read.

That said, the convenience of p/exing shouldn’t be underestimated either, but at the moment if you want a long range EV you have a very very short list of cars to consider :(.

For those of us ‘in the know’ the Richard Symons of this world may be route to better values, but for those not glued to the fora I agree it’s a dangerous game Tesla play with owners loyalty.

I’m not sure but with the amount tesla offered me as p/x on my S75 they don’t seem to be encouraging existing owners to trade then in! (For a Late 2016 facelift S75, with AP1, next gen seats, pano roof and 29,000 miles they offered £36,500)
Hi I am new to this forum, I joined because I am looking for a car pretty much as you have described. I don’t know how I would go about looking for someone who is looking to sell, any advice?

JonG has a website that lists cars for sale (harvested from various sources). I don't have the website details to hand, and looking at JonG's account it is showing that he has been banned ... which means I couldn't find it, sorry. Hopefully someone else knows the URL

Tesla MS and MX cars for sale in the UK

Pretty sure this is Jon. I wonder why he was banned, I’ll have to ask him. He’s still part of the Facebook group.

Hi, I was wondering if you would consider selling to a private buyer, as I am looking at the moment.
Hi,

To be honest I’d not really considered it because of the outstanding PCP agreement. At the moment I’m just planning on keeping it I think, I was hoping that tesla had made a mistake with the PX price. Certainly it leaves a bad taste in the mouth when you compare their offer to other dealers - it doesn’t seem like tesla want to encourage existing owners to stay with the brand or trade up for some reason? If I keep it for another 2 years and put 60,000 miles on it GFV on it is £29K so I find the offer of £36,500 now pretty weird.

They don’t want your old car, simple as that. They are already awash with them and are not geared up for CPO sales. They can barely run their new car sales operation! As a business they are focussed on new car sales and can shift more cars than they can make, loyalty is not something they are bothered about, at the corporate level at least.

Hi,

If I keep it for another 2 years and put 60,000 miles on it GFV on it is £29K so I find the offer of £36,500 now pretty weird.

You may well find that the GFV is worth more than the car in 2 years time, according to Tesla, for the same reason as above. However the wider market will decide what your car is worth. For example, Richard Symons is an EV specialist, and buys lots of Tesla’s from owners unhappy with the ‘offical’ trade in value. I know for a fact he sold four Tesla’s yesterday alone.

Last time I checked Porsche finance offers, they were actually guaranteeing a lower residual than Tesla once you included a few options in the price - and Macans need quite a few boxes ticking to make them a desirable proposition. It's true that Macans held their value amazingly well after their initial release (with a 12 month+ delivery lead time at one point), but now it's an ageing car with a facelift in the wings. Porsche dealers are also notorious for low-balling on trade-in, especially if you are not threatening to spend big bucks on another new one. Porsche private and indy market is very strong though.

The MX kicks the Macan's ass into touch as a proper family car too! The Macan is generally cramped inside and has little luggage space for its size. A Cayenne is a much better comparison on size, but even those are small on the inside compared to an MX.
