I spotted this Model S in front of me in line to charge at the Burbank SC yesterday afternoon. It looks similar to the one which popped up on Reddit a few days ago - two flat sensors on the roof, plus what looks similar to an old school curly car phone antenna sticking up (see cropped photo - fuzzy sorry). It had the keyboard on the dash plus the big red button.
The driver was friendly - when I asked her if she was sworn to secrecy about whatever she was doing she laughed and said "If I say anything my head will explode!"
She was willing to divulge that she was a test driver for Tesla, and was charging to continue her journey back to Fremont - and was returning from a 6 week cross country road trip going from the west coast to the east coast to the west coast again.
The car was dirty as heck and the driver looked hot and tired - like someone who had been pushing a lot of miles day after day.
Testing what? Hope we will find out soon...
Stupidly I forgot to check for evidence of additional cameras. Oh well...
