Texas Model Ys

My Alliant rep told me to email the signed loan docs to Tesla. Got confirmation of funding from Alliant Friday and then from Tesla rep Sunday. I’m tempted to go test drive the Y this week. Did you call them to setup the appointment? Or just show up?

Call them and set up an appointment. They are doing a touchless test drive. They sanitize the car and let you take it out. So an appointment is probably necessary. Since the Y is so new, once word gets out they have them to drive, I image it will get more difficult to get a time. They allow about 45 minutes for the drive. No one from Tesla goes with you.

Got my delivery packet by FedEx this morning. It actually arrived at my door before I was e-mailed by my account/delivery rep in Nevada. I signed the forms and title of my trade and FedExed them back. Now waiting to hear if they can assign me a delivery date after e-mailing scans of the forms and title to the Nevada folks. Anyone have any experience at this point in the process? Will it be a while before I get the delivery date or does Tesla move pretty fast once you get to this point. I may call my delivery center and check to see what they can find out.

Got my VIN and email from Tesla on Friday 5/29. Just checked the website and I have delivery date of 7/6. MSM, LR, AWD, 19" wheels. Order on the first night. Changed color back in March. No text or any other than the update on site. Has anyone seen their car come sooner?

I’m a first time Tesla buyer and although I’m extremely excited about getting a MY I will say this whole buying process for me so far has been a huge disappointment. Four days ago I logged into my account and saw a MVPA with a VIN and verified it by source code search. I emailed my local store rep (North Houston) to see what if anything they could tell me. After waiting over a day I got a short response that yes they see I do have a VIN and a delivery specialist would contact me. After another day of waiting no contact whatsoever so I sent a chat to see if someone could fill me in on what to do and or expect. I finally was connected to a delivery person who said they can’t ship the car until I send payment. Ok then I had to follow up with them on how to do so vaguely and when I sent back questions no response.
I have been poised to pay and take delivery for a longtime and now I’m having to beg them for info on how to pay them and take delivery is crazy. I sure hope things start to improve vastly as I have a sour taste for there customer service and process so far. So I wait for someone to answer my questions in a timely manner and get some sort of delivery date so I can make arrangements. Sorry for the rant while in the midst of our country’s current affairs, but was curious if others have had to deal with this.

Yep, I have had zero official communication from Tesla about my order without me reaching out first. When I finally got fed up one time because I got some sass from a delivery rep, I laid out all my complaints. The response was basically "calm down, Tesla doesn't do it like you are use to". They sure don't, it's bad customer service.

I sent a complaint through the normal comments communication channel outlining all of my complaints and have heard nothing. I told them they need to start planning on generating some customer loyalty. I also advised they read Carl Sewell's book "Customers For Life". Tesla will not always be the only game in town and they need to start treating customers better. Communication is a huge thing with me. I'm willing to accept some issues and shortcomings as long as there is communication and transparency. As far as I'm concerned the whole reservation/delivery process is a screwed up mess and they need to fix it. I'm sure that there are things driving it that we aren't privy to and I think it is all based on revenue generation and not on customer satisfaction. That will need to change in the long run. For now the folks that will take what Tesla produces without question will perpetuate the current processes. At minimum, if you are not happy with the ordering, delivery, quality, etc. Let Tesla know. Silence will just perpetuate mediocrity. Since Tesla doesn't advertise, we are their best way to spread the word on their brand. They should work harder at making us happy as their competition will be increasing very soon as Volvo, Polestar, BMW, Audi, MB, Ford, etc. have started the electrification of their vehicle line up.

Congrats @SparkyTX I've been seeing you in other threads as well on your journey.. I remember you by your dog avatar haha. Hopefully mine comes soon :(
Thanks burton06. From what I'm seeing it looks like Tesla is ramping things up and trying to catch up on the backlog. From what I have learned is the factory turns out batches of certain configurations and then those are delivered. What process Tesla uses to assign those cars to owners has yet to be determined. There seems to be no real pattern. So hopefully your wait won't be too long. I would take the new delivery estimates the Tesla is publishing as a good sign and will lead to everyone getting their car in the next month or so.

I agree with @SparkyTX Communications could be vastly improved. CONGRATS on traction with your order!

Careful mentioning expectations of Tesla here BTW, I had an Tesla zealot fanboy basically tell me that I should be thankful that Tesla didn't cancel my order for expecting a good customer service experience. This fanboy went on to say that Tesla never made any commitments as to communication and I should have not have any expectations and that was just being entitled! Okay...

Tesla can honor reservations with half ass communications or white glove customer service. Sadly they are not about white glove service when it comes to the way they triage their reservations in current state. It's a total crap shoot. This will turn a lot of people away.

My better half told me I should just cancel my reservation given the issues with buying from Texas. From the financing to paying the taxes separately, it'd almost rather deal with a dealer.... Almost. However, I am planning on waiting it out... But I almost got a brand new I-pace that was going for $49995... Then I came to my senses.

It does make me nervous if this is the buying experience, will service be just as bad? YIKES! A lot of people expect the service they get with their preferred dealers. If Tesla continues this haphazard path, they will turn a lot of people away.

Looking forward to seeing some delivery pics Sparky!

White/black/LR AWD/19" Gemini wheels/FSD ordered last August and scheduled for June 18 delivery at Dallas SC. VIN 68xx. It's been a relatively smooth ride to this point aside from the wait. Hoping the delivery date holds and the car is in good shape. We'll see.

I’ll post pics when I get the car! From what I’ve heard and read, I think Tesla service is okay. I don’t think they are Lexus level but I think they’re trying. Good thing is you won’t be visiting the service center much for regular service since there is very little required.

It’s weird because I had the exact opposite experience. But to your point, the experience needs to be consistent (as does the QC). If you are going to have an online ordering model and not the traditional dealership model, then you need to make sure you are responsive to customers and that the factory and local teams do a thorough check of the vehicle before scheduling delivery.

Drove it the other day. Wow is all I can say. Definitely going to need a radar detector, especially if the performance model has more performance that the base. The acceleration was comparable to my old BMW M4. And it turned on a dime.

I called the North Houston delivery center today and literally a minute after that the Nevada folks e-mailed me confirmation my paper work is complete and my car is on the way. The local delivery center guy said the car is in Nebraska right now and his estimate at this point is it is 5-7 days away. So this is better than the original date of the 21st I was given before. He is putting in the request for my temporary plates today and said to give it a few more days and he should have a more definitive date for delivery. The local guy had complete visibility to all the correspondence on my account so checking with them can't hurt. I plan on calling my guy back on Monday for an update. In the mean time my charger gets installed this weekend, so that is perfect timing. So, I'm starting to get excited to have my car here. Now comes all the post delivery stuff: PPF, accessories, etc.
