Texas Model Ys

Starting a tread for the Texas owners and people waiting on delivery. I’ve not seen a lot of posts from Texans and it might be good to have a place to communicate on Model Ys in the Lone Star state. I’m still waiting on a VIN for a Blue/ Black AWS 19s FSD that was ordered on 3/17/19.

For those in Houston, the Houston Galleria has a Model Y available for test drives. It is not in the showroom, it is downstairs in the the parking garage area where Tesla keeps the demo cars. It is a MSM AWD 20s. I’m scheduled to drive it next Monday. It looked good.

Interested in hearing if any Texans are taking delivery soon. I’ve not seen any posts lately.

First Batch. 2 months as of today. 1,700 miles in and loving it. All the paperwork, to include receipt of our title, is complete. Just waiting on a vanity plate (Wildflowers) for the back...

Best from Hill Country.

Empire, did you request the specialty plate as part of your initial licensing? I want to get a personalized plate but wasn’t sure if you have to get the conventional plate first and then trade it in when they deliver the custom plates.

All done with our initial paperwork. Really easy and all done virtually, over the phone and by drop-off. You can download/print the plate form from the website and send it in with everything else. Just add the fee to your tax fee based on the discussion you have with the rep over the phone for the real deal amount. As posted elsewhere, there are some Kalifornia fees we aren't responsible for, so it isn't just a straight percentage. Best to call and work through it all in our experience.

Good luck!

Good to hear. It would be nice to take care of all of it at once. Now all I need is a stinkin' VIN! ;)

Yet another Houstonian...I was assigned a VIN today. Blue, AWD long range, black interior, base wheels, no FSD. The purchase agreement states the odometer reading at 15. I suppose that means it was delivered to another customer and returned?

Mine also says 15. I wouldn't make anything of it. I don't think the car had even rolled off the assembly line when that mileage was filled in.

How did you know you got a VIN? Did you get informed by Tesla (email or text) or did you find it in the source code of your account page? I'm guessing the 15 miles might be a default value as no car will have 0 miles as they do drive them around a bit after being produced and loading for transport. Plus I have heard there are rumors of some additional QC being done at another site. So that might put some additional mileage on it. Heck, they can drive it a 100 miles as far as I'm concerned if it helps improve the initial quality issues...;)

I got a text and an email from Tesla at a little after 9am CDT this morning informing me that a VIN had been assigned. Late last week I checked the account page source code and found nothing, so I suspect all of the updates to my account happened this morning. However, I did not check over the long weekend, so I can can't rule out the idea that there were clues hidden in my account prior to that. I initially placed my order on Feb 23, 2020. I sent my Tesla rep an email late last week reminding them that I was ready to move forward, just to see if anyone was listening. I got a quick reply that basically said "no news yet, but we'll let you know." That was on Friday of last week.

Thanks. Your configuration is identical to mine except for the FSD. I assume FSD is enabled via software so I get a little frustrated trying to understand why I can't seem to get a VIN. I ordered about 11 months before you did. The delivery process seems to be horribly random when you don't know how they do it. Let us know how your delivery goes. I'm hoping initial quality issues continue to improve as time goes on.

Dallas - MSM/white, AWD Long Range, induction wheels, no FSD. Ordered Jan 2020 - waiting on VIN.

Originally ordered a Black Performance with white interior; revised to MSM/white Performance in February; was reached out to by a Delivery Support Specialist a couple of weeks ago and I revised again to a MSM/white AWD Long Range.

I agree with you. Yours should be assigned and delivered before mine. If you haven't already done it, take this time to prep your home charging infrastructure and acquire accessories or equipment you may need. Maybe that will help pass the time.
