What this author apparently does not appreciate, is that Telsa does not HAVE to build enough e-cars to save the planet, they (by their own admission) only have to get the big boys to get off the bench and into the game, as is apparently happening.

By analogy, when Ferrari brought out their "F1" transmission in the 355 and 360, paddle-shift sequential gear-boxes started to show up all over-- Audi, BMW, etc. I am happy to have Tesla remain a lower-volume high-tech leader, even after Model S and its successor.
