Tesla Roadster II in Australia

Not sure if it’s old news.

There is a reservation page for the Roadster: https://www.tesla.com/en_au/roadster

I’m reading it as $66k reservation fee today, final car price to be advised IF the car lands in Australia.

Has anyone here placed a deposit?

Still sore from the Cybertruck episode, don’t want another dejavu.

The important bit.. how much will it cost exactly? MG Cyberster at circa $100k is shaping up well (launching in 2024 that is).

$66k is a fair wedge to leave lying around not earning anything other than the promise of a place in a currently non-existent queue. Might not make a lot of difference time-wise if you wait until actual orders start being accepted for a RHD market like the UK.

Once tesla have relaunched S & X in australia, launched cybertruck in australia (which will not be easy), actually released roadster in the world usa, given away all the free roadsters from the loyalty programme, then a few years later we may get roadster but only if they want to make it in RHD. You can choose your decade of release.

I suspect any future releases will probably have the 48volt architecture which will allow steer by wire .

This may make it a little easier to produce Left and Right hand drive versions if the powers that be are so inclined.

Been a similar fee for a while.
If I recall at one point in Australia that had a Foundation Edition that had a similar payment within 10 day, and then a smaller fee for a regular version

IIRC Model S Signature deposit was $40,000 and standard production model deposit was $6,000. They may offer a standard reservation for the Roadster later on.
