Trade In Process

My experience with the current trade-in process is not smoothly like I expected. Before the order process, I quoted my car but did not actually apply that into the order. During the order, when adding my car to the trade-in portion, it was actually lower by about $60. Somehow they rounded the value down. Then I went to Carmax expecting to have them beat Tesla. Turned out they were actually less than Tesla for about $800, even though my car can be listed as very good with low mileage. So I decided just to go with Tesla since they can take care of my current outstanding payoff, considering that I would have to do extra work for that if I went with private party, especially since I have limited time until the tax rebate deadline for personal reason. Once the trade-off info was in the account, I had to wait 2 days for them to add the payoff quote, which I gave them directly both through the delivery specialist and the sale advisor. Never had anyone contacted me regarding about the trade-in and I was the only person that had to initiate the contact with them to expedite the process.

Well they finally got back to me saying they will work on it ASAP. My car is most likely going to be here earlier. DD appointment is set for the 14th but the car is going to get there on the 10th. No one contact me about my trade ever. Not once. No call, text, email, post mail nadda. Now we are 7-8 days away and they still haven’t gotten everything together.

For what it's worth, it sounds like my car might arrive at the center today (delivery scheduled for Tuesday). I was just on the phone and they said they "might" be able to do the delivery tomorrow (he didn't sound very confident of it) and they're "not there" on Sunday or Monday. But my wife can't be there for the pickup tomorrow, so we're just sticking with Tuesday.

Bottom line, just because the car is there, sadly it doesn't guarantee an earlier delivery.

(There was that other thread with the poor guy who found and photoed his car on the service center lot but couldn't take delivery yet! At least I won't have to be looking at it for the next four days.)

I am trading in a 2017 Audi TTS and was offered 37200. I just went to Carmax and was offered 39000, so pretty happy about that. Tesla is going to match and I am trading it in for the tax credit. (Texas you get the tax break) Definitely go to Carmax to check.

I ordered last Saturday. 4/27/19

They verified the trade with the update to my online account 5 days after ordering. Still no vin yet either.

Hmmm I’ve been waiting 22 days and still nothing and my vin and delivery day are in 6 days

Ordered 5/1. Trading 2014 Buick Enclave. Enter details into Teslas online order form link my sales person had emailed me. Tesla offered $16k. I had gone to Carmax first. They offered $17. I included pic of Carmax quote in package of pictures requested by Tesla per sales person instructions. About 24hr later Tesla updated their offer to same as Carmax.

It’s simple. You park we were told to leave the key card in the car and we went to our new vehicle. They confirmed the miles while we were going over the new car.

My $0.02, use Carmax or Edmunds. 2003 IS300 with 102K miles in excellent condition. Edmunds offered 4K, Tesla offered 2K. Wound up selling to private party for 5.5K. Sold in 5 days.

If you have a Trade-In

1. Please look to park your Trade near the back of the building on the west side of the parking lot near the grass.

a. When you have arrived TEXT a picture of your Current Odometer to ‪(XXX) XXX-XXXX , our team will then confirm your Trade In remotely allowing you to complete your express delivery

2. We ask that you remove your trade in plates. If you are not able to do this and would like your plates returned let us know by emailing [email protected] . We can FedEx them to your registration address.

3. Ensure you have cleaned out your trade in prior to your delivery.

4. Exit your trade with your Keys and all final items you will transfer from your old vehicle.

5. You will drop your trade keys in your document package awaiting in your Tesla along with all other paperwork.

6. Attached in your delivery packet at pick up you will find how to sign your trade in title.Please only sign - we will complete the rest! Place your Signed Title in with your keys in your provided documents package.

7. Remember the good miles and the great times in your Trade-In and prepare for even more electric ones to follow!
