Yes, that’s how it is. The Nav screen is always the background screen and is always active. It’s Tesla’s push to consolidate the user interface across all the Model lines.

As far as I know, yes. Everything else is an overlay over the nav screen.

In v9 nav is always open and media player is always open as the app when you first get into the car, or whenever you go do things like try to turn on HOV routing in the navigation window. Tesla is pushing it very hard, switching to nav+media any time they can, even at random times for no reason at all. My guess is they are hoping that eventually people will wear out and just keep nav+media on their screens. Then they can claim their telemetrics indicate that that is all that people use, therefore they can remove the rest of the apps.
