Initially, I would think the high water table would make tunneling difficult in Waikiki.
But then again, Boring Company is bidding a loop system in Fort Lauderdale FL which has the same tunneling challenge, so apparently they have a solution?
I've also been pondering whether a loop system would work as a supplement to HART rail, at least provide a fast connection from areas without rail, like Waianae or Mililani, to the nearest rail station. But of course that depends on the HART project actually finishing...
I wonder which will happen first: Oahu superchargers or HART rail...
I think the HART Board, should look at using Boring Company to build the tunnel from Middle Street to UH. Probably could do it for a fraction of the current projected cost. And that would like be a No-No, so they wouldn't do it.
